Federal Law On Return of Art Objects From the Austrian Federal Museums and Collections

The National Assembly has resolved:

s 1. The Minister of Finance is empowered to transfer to the original owners or their legal heirs without monetary compensation those art objects from the Austrian federal museums and collections, which also includes the collections of the federal movable property administration, which

 1. Were objects of restitution to their original owners or their legal heirs, and after May 8, 1945 came into the possession of the federal government without monetary compensation in the course of a subsequent proceeding concerning the requirements of the federal law prohibiting the export of objects of historical, artistic or cultural importance, and are still in the possession of the federal government;

2. Were objects that were indeed legally transferred into the possession of the federal government, however previously landed in the possession of the Republic of Austria as a result of a legal transaction pursuant to section 1 of the federal law of May 15, 1946 on the declaration of invalidity of legal transactions and other legal proceedings that occurred during the German occupation of Austria, and are still in the possession of the federal government;
