      Re:  Bloch-Bauer Estate

Dear Dr. Wran:

Thank you for your April 8, 1999 letter, which I received today.

In the meantime, you should have received, or soon will receive, the original documents relating to the heirs of Ferdinand Bloch-Bauer sent on April 12 and 13, which I hope you will pass on to your legal expert as soon as possible (copies of these documents have been sent to Dr. Bacher even before the last meeting of the Beirat). I would appreciate the opportunity to speak with your expert while I am in Vienna to discuss matters and to make sure that he has all the required documentation. If there is any further documentation that is required I would appreciate knowing at the earliest possible time so that this is not a cause for delay.

Thank you for confirming our appointment on May 5, 1999 at 9:30 a.m.. I look forward to meeting you. My clients and I understand that you do not expect a final resolution at the May 10 meeting. We understand that the Bloch-Bauer case raises certain political problems for the Beirat, and therefore may require a more careful consideration

Dr. Bacher has written to me that he is sending me a copy of his report, which I very much appreciate.  I look forward to receiving it in the next few days.

   Very truly yours,

   E. Randol Schoenberg
